Hi All,

I got bored this last weekend so I made some interconnects. I used common Cat 5 cable with a weave that I concocted in my twisted little mind. After listening to them for a couple of days I have to say that I may take out a patent! WOW!! All harshness is gone! In it's place there is depth and pace and a realistic high range that I was looking for in a much more expensive IC. I will bring them along to the next meet I can make if you guys promise not to give away my secret. :)  :) It's amazing what you can do with a few dollars worth of good Cat 5 and a little patience and ingenuity and some decent connectors. Later.

Hi G,

Congratulation on your new DIY cable :D Like you I just made myself a pair of IC couple of weeks ago. I needed a 3 meters long and must be low capacitence design since I will be using them with a simple Audio Note tubed pre and amp. So, I went with paralle run based on the Nordost cable.

They sound great! I have to admit that I never had expensive cable in my system. But after I put my homemade cable in my system I don't feel like spending a lot more money to buy some brand name expensive cable.

Well, to me cable is all about quality of the metal used and the contruction design and none of that mumbo jumbo, voodoo crap.  I'm sure you feel the same as me right now of why cable company charge so much money for they product?

Here is my cable unshield...

Now with very sophisticated shielding scheme...

Most excellent!!. I knew, and know, that most of the crap you hear about $300 per meter cables was just that. Crap. It's always nice to have empirical evidence though. Your setup looks very nice. Are those hockey pucks on your amp? Cheers!
