Do you know the story behind the gold plating? It looks as if the binding posts may have been upgraded, has there been any maintenance or upgrades to the crossover?

I purchased from an audiophile who just moved to another country. So do not know much on the plating. The bind post had been upgraded for using with modern speaker cables. The crossover is original.
