since these two amps cost the same has anyone compared the two?
the s5 is 50 watts class a and the s12 is 125 watts class ab with the first 35 watts i believe class a. both double in watts as the impedence halfs.

The pure class A amps have a warmer, more liquid presentaion. If you don't need the power, they are the way to go. It is expensive for the amount of power available. It is also not efficient at all and the amps will thus use more electricity and produce more heat.

Don't you have to treat Class A solid state a lot like tubes, in the sense you can't really leave the amp "on" at all times when between listening sessions?

The Coda amps have a stand-by feature that makes warm-up time less critical. They don't get as hot as other brands anyway.

Doin' good :) (thanks for asking)  One of these days I keep thinking that I'll stop all the upgrading and building...but each step is an upgrade or addition.  So who am I to say no?

I've recently purchased a DEQX-p for use with my EdgarHorns...but the time I spend trying to figure the software/correction out will have to be put on hold (or at least moved down on the priority list) as we'll soon have our baby boy to add in our family:mrgreen: (<---that's me bragging)

Audio certainly is fun though, as I'm sure you well know.

As always...keep up the good posts...they're always a good read   :)

    Hope all is well>>>

    take care,

     dan
