These really are a good as Danny says in his video. Got to listen to them last week on a day trip to GR.

Very impressive indeed.

They may have an interesting sound, but I still don’t understand who will use floorstanding speakers in a small living room if their bottom end is 65 Hz. I mean, you can’t listen to any music with them without a sub or two. If you want to save space, you won’t (you have to find space for subs too). If you want to save money, you won’t (good subs will cost you more than these towers).
Correct me if I’m wrong.

I agree with @zlib. It should have a well designed front, rear or side bass reflex + foam plug.

Later, if successful, a version with a transmission line.

Foam plug as the expensive ($6000) QAcoustics Concept 500, with two options.

If we made the 2.4s a ported speaker, the cabinet would need to be nearly 2x the current size, which makes the speaker more expensive and take up more space.

Sealed bass is going to act different than ported bass.  With ported bass you get a deeper bass but it's looser.  Also, with ported bass, your in-room response will drop off very quickly below the port tuning frequency.

Sealed bass is not like that.  It has a very slow, gradual roll off that will mate with the room gain and give you MUCH lower bass than the box tuning.  So, a sealed box of 65hz will (in my real-world experience) give you bass to 40hz for sure, and often a bit below that even.

A rough estimate

LGK 2.4
Height: 41.5″
Width: 6.5″
Depth: 9.5″
-> 42 liters

LGK 2.4 sealed: 65 Hz
LGK 2.4 vented -> 54 Hz (-3 dB) :?

Tyson really nailed it with his post.

It is easy to get room gains down low in a small room. So something with a sealed box and more gradual roll off really helps.

What about LGK 2.4 vs NX-Studio? They have similar frequency range and similar price. Which model should you choose and in what cases?

I have listened again, with my new hybrid integrated Magnat MA 900 + modified KEF Q100 5.25 coaxial, the audios that DR uploaded from the small LGK 2.1

The sound is fantastic!

Like for like, I would put the NX-Studio against the LGK 2.1, but the 2.4 is essentially a larger 2.1
I've built/heard and really like both.

If you want detail & clarity I would pick the NX-Studio
If you want something more "smooth" with focus on the midrange and need a compact option, I would pick the 2.1s.

The one similarity between the LGK 2.4 and NX studio is that the LGK 2.4 offers an ambiance driver on the back that will give a similar airy & spacious soundstage,  to the NX,cbut it will require at least 1 foot from the front wall while the NX Studio make used of a ramp behind the tweeter and can be places closer if needed, just like the 2.1

The price of the LGK 2.4 kit is $651.

Fully assembled is 1800-1855
Assembed on the kit page just means the cabinets are pre assembled.

Danny,

Nice to see you have finally discovered WAW. There is a huge amount of unexplored design space.

I’d cross lower given the large centre-to-centre, and to further move the XO from the critical band.
