Welcome to AudioCircle, Andy!
I am the last of the boomers so I also appreciate the decade of music you refer to. I think of it as Elton John to Talking Heads haha. I was very fortunate to experience the world for the first time with such an inspiring soundtrack, and I still partake of it often. I remember one Saturday morning in spring 1983 while washing my car listening to Casey Kasem American Top 40 on the car radio I heard the debut songs of Culture Club, Duran Duran and Dexys Midnight Runners all in the same week, and probably a new song from MJ Thriller in there too.
Do you like vintage music bc you prefer it to contemporary music? Or do you just like both new and old?
My genZ kids say they don't like today's pop music, but they do listen to some of it and attend concerts. My middle kid likes rap and he has taught me to appreciate some of the better stuff, even though I lived through the sacrifice of the music industry on the altar of rap and have my own negative bias towards it, I was surprised to hear how good some of the new rap really is. I thought my system was very capable because I like loud symphonies and jazz big bands, but I need a few more subs to do his music justice.

I like room correction too, I use ARC Genesis <500Hz.
