Greetings All,

Thought the site might be of interest for others' opinions or thoughts on gear and combinations. Started in 1979 with a Dual direct drive turntable (with the classic Shure V15 type III if memory serves), Kenwood KA-7100 60w integrated, and Genesis II+ small floor-standers (not the famous Genesis). Tortured plenty of folks the last two years of college. I've moved on from there (Martin Log. SL3s for 16 yrs).

It would appear I'll be entering Odessey Audio territory as I expect a 'new-to-me' Kismet stereo amp that was converted by Klaus from a Stratos Stereo Extreme a few years ago. I am hoping this will be a change for the better, as it will replace the amplification section of a W4S STI-1000 integrated I've been using for years on my speakers for years, used Raido D2 small floor-standers (happily mostly, but is there more out there?).

The 500w/1000w of the STI-1000 integrated are dead quiet and very powerful, but the amp is possibly a smidgeon lean for my Raidhos. Most Raidho's have a 'bump' from about 80-160Hz or so(?) but mine are room corrected and very flat down to low 30s with no 'dark mid-bass hump at all (much better sounding).

In comparison, my McCormack DNA-1 is too 'musical' on the Raidhos and I always go right back to the clean W4S Class D sound.  And so, I think there is 'more' out there for those awesome speakers and hope Odyssey will help. (And perhaps if need be, I'll adjust, or have the bias adjusted if even necessary.)

Anyhow, hello to all and good listening!       Mark

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.
