Intro from a US West Coaster
« on: 15 Apr 2023, 03:46 pm »
Good Day, Folks!

I think my story is not unusual here - grew up a big music fan and part time musician, started slowly collecting records in my teens, begged and pleaded for a job in a record store (Rasputin Records in Pleasant Hill, CA, anyone?), and began collecting records in earnest.  In my late 20's began to get enamored with mid century design and lifestyle, and coupling that with the desire to get more out of my music collection, began to embrace Hi Fi.

It was very enjoyable, until I did not have the time or money to spend on further developing my system and realized I had no time to listen to my collection, with hundreds of records unlistened to in my collection.  So I sold them to help my wife and I buy our first home in Seattle, WA (yes, I miss them sorely now)

At some point, I transfered my interest in Hi Fi into musical gear, specifically Boutique Electric Guitar builders, and spent well over a decade engaging in all sorts of fantastic instruments my forward thinking and gifted luthiers.

My wife and I recently fairly recently moved to the Coachella Valley, CA, and are finding the way we want to spend our free time changing.  She recommended perhaps I get back into vinyl and hifi as a way to get my butt out of the house.....so I sold some of my electric guitars and have re-entered into the Hi Fi world.
And here I am, typing this intro up prior to going out to a record fair in Joshua Tree.

Current system is as follows - much of this new to me from January to April 2023
