NX-Otica build thread
« on: 30 Mar 2023, 06:38 pm »
So I was selling my nx-ottica flat packs that I never got around to building, and in the process, I hooked up my nx-studio's in my main system and got them somewhat dialed in properly, and I have never heard a stereo so amazing.  So............ instead of selling the optic flat packs, I decided to build them out and sell the completed NX-Studio's instead.  Heres where we're at.  I apologize for my pics being all sideways, I can't figure out how to right them.

Had them sprayed at my local body shop - decided to go with a Range Rover grey. The pics do NO justice

All driver holes will use threaded inserts with bolts

Mike Lundy is handling the crossovers for me. I did most upgrades with miflex caps and path audio resistors. Most caps are bypassed too. Mike is the man.

Look at the reflection of the drivers in the wing.  I am so glad I decided to have an automotive finish rather than duratex them myself.

SUPERB !
Thanks for sharing this
I have Super Vs and am speechless as far as the BASS I get to enjoy, I can only imagine how much the mids and highs would be improved upon with these !
Im Green with envy over here :green:

They really look "stealthy" in the deep gray
congrats on getting inspired and following through on build

Very nice build.  Are you going to put NoRez on them?

I hate to cover up the inner wing’s piano mirror finish with no rez.  But function over finish for me always , so yes sadly they will only be half as pretty after the no res treatment

You're right, it looks better without it.  I have NX-Otica's too, and the NoRez makes a substantial improvement in sound.  So, worth it.

Wow. These will be the first quality speakers I’ve ever owned soon and it’s inspiring to see the “piano finish” you achieved here with paint.  I actually think I prefer this quite a bit over veneers.  Nice work!

Can you give me a ballpark of what you spent on upgraded crossover parts?

I got super lucky with some great people who own a body shop.
