Would I need a sub with OB1's?
« on: 21 Apr 2005, 07:00 pm »
Hi there,

I am looking at getting a whole new set of speakers to be used for both my home theater setup and plain music (inc DVD-A). I am looking at getting 2 pairs of PMC OB1's and the matching CB6 centre speaker. The spec sheet for the OB1's quote a "usable" range going down to 22Hz which I would say is going to be fine for using the system without a sub, if this is a realistic figure. Does anyone have any experience with these speakers who could tell me if they do go this low? Also would this setup work well? I would be using it in a room 26' long x 16' wide and 9'7" high. Oh and I would be using an EAD Powermaster2000 5 channel poweramp to power them all.

Thanks,

Steve

I think you should always get a sub for 5.1 movie soundtracks.

I agree - if you really want to feel that visceral, subsonic 15hz that some movies hit you with, you'll need an ample sub.
