Didn't think I'd be doing this, since I have really enjoyed this amp since I bought it last year (2022). But I am nearing the completion of my live edge dipole OB speakers, which will be bi-amped, and I don't think this amp will be the best choice for driving the midrange/woofer sections. Not that it couldn't ... I'm sure it would do an admirable job ... but I think it would be a shame to use in in that capacity. I'm looking at moving to a Class A SS amp to handle the duties. Plus, it wouldn't hurt for me to free up some funds to pay for these speakers!

The amp is in the exact same condition as when I bought it, which is excellent. It has been sitting on the shelf in my rack the whole time and hasn't moved. It will include a quad set of 350b tubes, a set of KT88 tubes, and all the associated rectifiers for each set of power tubes. I have the box it was shipped to me in, which I believe is the box that Craig (the owner of NOSValves) originally shipped the amp in when it left his facility. It was shipped to me from CA with zero issues, so I'm confident in my ability to ship it safely. And from what I've been told, and have every reason to believe, this was Craig's personal amp for some time.

The attached pic is the only one I have at the moment (I'm traveling for business), but I can certainly get you more. There are also a number of pics on the HiFi Haven and Klipsch forums, just search "NOS valves VRD". Looking for $2000 $1850  + I’ll split the actual shipping charges up to $100.  I will calculate actual shipping charges for you.  Or come pick it up, and listen to it while you're here. I'm in Lake Geneva, WI, so easy access from Madison, Milwaukee or the Chicago area. Reach out with any questions.  I’m also interested in a partial trade for a Class A SS amp, such as Forte, Threshold, DIY Pass/First Watt, etc..

The output is 30W/45W in triode/UL mode.  It is currently wired for 4 and 8 ohm speakers, and can be easily reconfigured for 16 ohm speakers.

Thanks for looking!

I have some very efficient speakers from Omega on order and 30 watts would be ample.  Could you tell me what preamp you used with this - I’m putting together a whole system.  Also, do you know when it was made?  Is this the same amp that was discussed a couple of years ago on the Klipsch forum and said to have been Craig’s personal amp?  Do you know what a new set of tubes would cost?  Thank you for any information you can provide.

@twilightround (golf reference, I assume?)

The amp is indeed what was discussed on the Klipsch forum, and it was Craig’s personal amp.  I have zero doubt that 30 watts in triode will drive your Omega’s with no problems, and the 45 watt UL even more so (I almost always run it in triode mode though).  I had Omegas at one point, so I have a point of reference.  I do not know when this was made, sorry.

I use a Transcendent Sound Grounded Grid preamp, which I built myself.  I believe the gain is 6dB.  I could easily drive my speakers and this amp with a passive preamp as well, but I prefer the liveliness of an active preamp (personal preference).

As for tubes, I think you can get a quad of KT-88s for around $300 or so.  That said, there are no issues with these that would necessitate that anytime soon, plus you also get a quad of 350b tubes and associated rectifiers.  I have run them both, and they both sound great.  You just need to adjust the bias between the different tubes, which is super simple from the top of the amp (no need to get inside it) with just a DMM.

Hopefully that answers your questions.  The amp really does sound great, and has plenty of power to drive all but the most inefficient or difficult speakers, neither of which the Omegas are.  Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Bumping this to the top, along with a little sweetener.  I’ll split the actual shipping charges up to $100 since shipping is so crazy these days.

This is a great sounding amp, with serious iron and serious balls.  It would make your speakers very happy.

One more bump, with additional sweetener…

Knocking $100 off, so $1900, plus I’ll still cover 1/2 the shipping cost, up to $100.  Someone here needs this excellent amp!

Will also consider partial trades + cash for a nice SS amp to drive the woofer section of my new bi-amped OB speaker build.  Forte, etc…

Well, I really want to move this amp, as I have my eye on a solid state option that I think will work well with my new speakers. so knocking another $50 off … $1850 + split shipping up to $100. Or come hear it in my listening room and take it home with you if you are in the Milwaukee/Chicago/Madison general area.

This is a great tube amp, and will make someone very happy!
