Two new Kits released
« on: 16 Apr 2005, 09:48 pm »
We have finalized and have ready to ship two new speakers designs.   I'm still working on web development so excuse the lack of measurement details and pictures.   As I get time I'll add to the information we have listed.

Just to give some details.

Exodus Audio KIT261:   Two way floor standing design with the Extremis 6.8 & Usher tweeter.   We have two cabinet designs.   One small and one super size!   ;-)   Expect FULL range performance in either cabinet.

Exodus Audio LCR (left, center, right):    The LCR is our cost is not an object for the front stage of a home theater.   Capable reference levels with miniscule distortion levels.   It provides true full range output with a carefully matched front stage for the ulitimate home theater.   If you have the space and budget look no further.

How many watts would you use to run the various kits?

None of them are a difficult load.   The 1W efficiency rating isn't high but we have showed them off with a National Semiconductor LM4780 chip amp (about 50W) with very good results.

We have built a couple of the Hypex based amplifiers also and they are a great match at only 90W into 8 Ohms.   As you turn them up you will find that you will reach the limitations of the drivers long before you reach the limits of the amplifier.

They are not suitable for low powered tube amps (let's say less than 25W/Ch) but they are fine with almost anything else.   One of the design goals was to make them easy to drive.   We didn't want something that required people to go out and buy expensive amplifiers to get reasonable performance.

Are all the drivers shielded?

That is a monster inductor!  :o

Yes... we have only sourced video shielded parts.   Even though they often cost more it's cheaper than stocking both a shielded & non-shielded version of the same driver.

That inductor is a 4.0mH 15AWG unit.   That one inductor alone is $15 each.
