Doing my obligatory intro posts. I'm a professional classical musician (singer) and music lover, originally from MI but now living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently seeking to modernize my motley collection of A/V gear. I like listening to symphonic music, organ music, and chamber music as well as rock, folk, jazz, and big budget films, so I need a decent system.
I've accumulated two pairs of DCM TimeWindow 3's (which probably need re-capping), a Velodyne HGS15, and a Bryston 8BST amp, sitting below an old 50" Panasonic 780p 8UK plasma and a DCM Surroundscape center. The rest of my gear has either failed or is in the process of doing so.
I'm now trying to pick an AVR for the modern age to replace my ancient marantz, having just grabbed a 65" LG OLED evo panel and a panasonic bluray/streamer. Also interested in upgrading speakers, adding compatible rears/heights for atmos etc. and finding new mains in the transmission-line mold of DCM & Philharmonic, also intrigued by Salk. Priorities are great imaging, fidelity, and clean, deep bass extension over efficiency as I have the power to drive less-sensitive speakers.
