My Midwest system
Component main supports and CSS stands are from a Brunswick (Ohio) repurposed pool table. The
shelves are 1 in slate.
All line level interconnects and the SB 12-NSD subs are SVS (Ohio).
Speakers are the CSS 2TD-X with Superior crossover (Michigan).
Audio by Van Alstine was my choice for DAC (DAC MK V), Pre Amp (Vision RB), and Power Amp (Vision
Set 120) (Minnesota). The old gear replaced was a 25 year AVA Super PAS 3 that I assembled and two Pass Amp Camp Amp kits.

GR Research (Texas) was the source for the speaker wire and speaker tube connectors. Their solid core
wire was used on all speaker wiring. Solder was Cardas. Care was taken on all wire connections to
crimp the wires together for a solid mechanical connection before soldering.
CD source is a Marantz CD5003. Optical out to the DAC.
GIK diffusion panels on homemade moveable stands (again sourced from that pool table).
The sound is the best I’ve ever had at home. Small club settings are approaching darn near being there
levels. I enjoy the way instruments are just reproduced so clean out in the sound field. On some
recordings you can just close your eyes and point to where the performer is located. I’m enjoying
pulling out music that I haven’t heard in a while and rediscovering why I enjoyed them in the first place.
Mostly, but not always.
I am playing with room acoustics, I suspect this will be a long process.
