I have two 3B SST/2 that I use in my stereo setup. One was a 3B SST which I sent in for service to replace the switch. They upgraded it for me to a 3B SST/2. I believe they won't do this anymore for certification reasons but they did it for me. Anyway when it came back it sounded much better than my other 3B SST/2 so I hooked this up to my Model T passives and I use the other one on my Paradigm Studio 100 v2 which are doing surround duty placed in the corners of the room.

IMO if I went to a 3B Cubed the bass output would be too much for my room being that with my tower speakers I'm already getting plenty of bass. And I can't afford to purchase another two amps as I would want them to be the same for a matched output.

I also play my music louder than the average audiophile so I'm using a lot of watts without clipping. With my 3B ST it does not quite have enough power for the volume I listen at without clipping. :smoke:

Excellent review. I purchased a 3BCube last Summer. It took about 4 months to get because of a shortage of parts. It was well worth the wait. A perfect companion w/my Aerial 5T speakers. Great detail even at early morning low volume music.

That was impressive. A video vs written subjective review comes across as being much more convincing, the descriptive attributes of the component seem to have more meaning when conveyed with that pointed and matter of fact way he has.
Luckily, the background noise level in my room is about 10db higher than his so, the additional resolution from the cubed series vs an SST won't do me any good, (I think 24db is at the threshold of normal human auditory limits).

At $6K vs the 3 or 4 a 3B used to cost making a purchase decision based on performance only is complicated by personal and economic factors these days, not to mention the price/value competition of other technologies.

The best thing about the review is, if I remember correctly, that he managed to get through it without once saying 'inky blacks'. That says alot about his credibility as far as I'm concerned. Still, a nice looking amp and now no reason for so-called expert listeners to spend $20K and more for something no better by any metric.

One remark the reviewer made was on the power output. My graph for my 3B3 shows 222 watts before clipping. Is it safe to presume that all Bryson amps are not exact but have slight acceptable variations in power output?

Stereophile's 2004 review says 4BSST WAS $3K. A steal at $6K?, ahem, KEF LS60 wireless, active are $7K! The competition is very, very tough.
