I'll be downtown for two nights this weekend.  You guys have any recommendations for ribs one night and steak the other.  We'll have a car so travel is okay as long as I can find my way back to the casinos. :D

4 years ago we went to a nice steak place which served a baked potato the size of a shoe and a whole head of broccoli for a veggie....Don't remember the name.

Thanks,

steve k

Welcome back to St. Lou.

For steaks, I'd recommend Al's Restaurant on North 1st St. It's just north of downtown-not the greatest neighborhood but it's a St. Louis institution since the 1920's.

For ribs, I'd have to go with another St. Louis insitution--Phil's Bar be cue on Gravois in Affton. Enjoy your stay.

Deirdorf and Harts maybe? They have two or three locations, one downtown another out in Westport (in the county).

Don't forget about The Hill. It's some of the best Italian food this side of the Atlantic (literally). The Hill is where our Italian community lives. Tons of great restaraunts. You can spend as much or as little as you want. Mostly, the price is going to be governed by how nice the furnsihings are in the restaraunt. Great part of that is, you can get the same great Italian dinner at a place that isn't all silk and lace at about half the cost. The Hill starts at Kingshiway and 44 and runs south and west. Just follow the signs when you get off the hiway.

Oh, after a great meal on the Hill you have to stop by Ted Drewes and get a concrete (frozen custard). It's a St Louis original and is to die for.  Fat food at it's best

The other night you could always go to The Loop, have dinner and people watch. Thats another fun place to hang out.

Thanks guys for the rec's.  I'm sure any place will fit the bill after a couple hospitality suites.
Another place for ribs, a bit out of town says the source, is Ozzies in West Port Plaza off 270????

Eight years is a long time.  Anything change downtown as far as Steak joints?  Looking for the best Filet St. Louie has to offer.

Hi!
I rarely post on here but food caught my eye.
Food I know about - hifi not so much.
Pappys on Lindell for ribs.  Or Bogarts in Soulard.
Citizen Kane's or Morton's for steaks, or the new casino off 55 and the river.

Do a search on Sauce magazines site, or Urbanspoon.
Best

I  would  recommend  Prime 1000. Located at 10th &  Washington.  Just had a 20oz ribeye last night, excellent.

One of the better steak houses in the area is Citizen Kane's in Kirkwood.  I don't get downtown much, so no recommendations there.
