Should I ditch the coffee table?

I have a 2' high and 6' wide coffee table in the middle of my living room.  My front speakers are on 29" stands about 5 feet from the coffee table and the couch where I sit is about 2' behind the table.  How much is this table screwing up the sound?

It's one of the four first-reflection points, and no doubt the most reflective.  I simply put a Sonex panel on mine (extra one I had floating around; same as what I used for side wall reflecting points) when I listen to music.  It disappears.

Net/net, yes, it's in the way!  Treat it or lose it.

WOW!   I just threw a thick blanket on the top of the coffee table and listened to a few of my "refrence" albums.  What a difference!!!  Damn, being a former sound guy, I should have though of this years ago!  Well, better late then never.  Thanks for the help everyone!  :D  :D

I have a wooden coffee table in the same position.  I need to find another spot for it elsewhere in the room...  Area btw speakers and couch otherwise has a thick rug to dampen floor reflections.
