Hello from Nashville

New member here. Walked into a stereo store in downtown Pittsburgh many years ago and was dumbstruck by the sound coming out of Dahlquist DQ-10's driven by an Audio Research SP3A / D76 combo. Many years have passed and a handful of components have come and gone; now my primary 2-channel rig includes an ARC LS16II and D400 driving Maggie 1.6's with a Velodyne sub handling the low end.

Have various interests. I've built some speakers in the past -- e.g., Spica clones with components from Madisound as a wedding gift for my brother years ago, and in the late 80's built the ARC ST-70-C kit from Old Colony that turned a Dynaco Stereo 70 into a lower-powered version of a D76. Still have it, although it's overdue for a power supply cap replacement.

Found the forum through GR Research. Their crossover upgrade kit for my Maggies arrived yesterday and I'm getting ready to tear into that project.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.
