Hi Everyone!

I have loved audio and the technology of sound reproduction for a long time. Something about turning knobs is very exciting. Radios, Stereos, walkmen, Discmen, everything related to consumer audio have been a big part of my life growing up. I love to take everything apart and see how it works and put it back together again. I love to modify anything and everything to make it work better for me, not against me.
Kids are growing up and I am coming back to setting up a true listening room. I discovered Danny Richies channel a year ago and I am learning so much! I am excited to see how much I can learn and apply to my modest system to hear what most of you hear every day.

I am many things - a musician (drummer), Star Wars toy collector, HS baseball announcer, TopGear fan, Mechanic, Handyman, Minivan driver (and I like it) and all around good guy.

I don't have unlimited funds to put to audio equipment, but the suggestions that Danny has made has greatly improved my listening experience so far.

I don't have any names of equipment to drop for you right now. I will probably open up more when I feel a little more comfortable. Let's just say that I like what I have and I am not longing for anything else.

I have tons of questions so I hope you will be patient with me! Can't wait to be a part of this group!

"Setting up" a listening room can be an exercise in frustration.  Small, squarish, or odd shaped rooms will never work well.  Neither will poorly insulated or non-dedicated rooms.  In fact a "proper" room can cure many of the faults that treatments and/or DSP try to bandaid over.  17 years ago I built a dedicated listening front/office rear room and love it.  Well insulated, followed Fibonacci ratios (8ft x 13ft x 21ft), basement space (no windows, carpet/pad covered concrete floor).  Can listen when I want (regardless of family) at lower sound pressure levels.  Suggest reading Floyd Toole's "Sound Reproduction".
