Hello Everyone,
I too have been looking around this forum for a short while and finally decided to join. I find a lot of the PM’s covering the subjects I am interested in too!
I also have been looking at building a set of X-LS Encore speakers (and eventually the X-CS Encore) mostly because of the great reviews they seem to get all over YouTube. I’m very excited about the imaging ability these speakers have according to other owners.
I spoke with Danny the other day and found him to be super friendly and just like he appears to be on the YouTube videos. Meaning very willing to share his expertise and even made a few suggestions for ideas in the build process.
As for my background, I have a lot of experience in woodworking and metal machining from my professional career that I am applying to my speaker building effort. These Encores will be the 7th or 8th pair of speakers that I have built in the past 10 years. Each time I build a speaker kit, I gain a little in sound quality improvement over the last pair.
The big difference this time is I’m designing the cabinets in Fusion 360 CAD/CAM software and machining the panels on my Avid CNC. I would be interested in knowing about others who use the same software and a CNC to build their speakers. I love the accuracy a CNC affords the process. By the way, my cabinets will be an upgrade from the basic cabinet depicted in the free plans you can download from Danny but still loyally maintain the internal area space of the original cabinet. Mostly I’m adding a better brace system that is dadoed into all the joints in the box. The front baffle has been updated too. I’m taking pictures of each of the part/panels as I go along.
I’m well under way with my build and don’t mind sharing any info anyone may need to help with their build. I’m really slow to read my email (I only check it once a day) and I’m new to this forum so if you have question or suggestions, please be patient.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Bill
