I'll probably regret this but putting my Don Sachs Model 2 preamp up for sale. Haven't been using it due to system changes and while I thought I'd keep it forever other priorities are making me decide to put it up for sale.
It is a walnut case and pretty much fully loaded model with XLR inputs. I also sent it to Don back in May '21 to have it upgraded to 1.5 uF Vcap ODAM caps, 4 naked foil resistors, the XLR inputs, and a new Khozmo board. The upgrade cost me about $600. I also have a Synergistic Orange fuse installed. It will ship with the installed Psvane CV181-T MKII (6sn7) tubes which probably have a couple hundred hours on them but should still have years of life left. A quad of these tubes now goes for about $400+ alone.
I also have the remote which is excellent condition, and I recently replaced the battery.
This is a fantastic preamp, especially for the price. The only issues is that 1 of the rca inputs is a touch loose, but works fine. It can probably be tightened from the inside. Also some very minor imperfections on the case (tiny scrapes) that I never noticed until just now when taking close up photos.
I'm asking $2600 including shipping and handling to the lower 48 states and assuming you use PayPal Friends and Family. I have great feedback on agon and usaudiomart.
I'm actually nauseous putting this up for sale as it sounds great, looks perfect with my walnut cabinet, and love that its handmade by someone as passionate as Don. So act fast before I change my mind!
