Any links to contemporary style hifi cabinets, or very high quality craftsmen? I'm thinking light natural oak, very clean and simple design, along the lines of...

I was looking through that website and it looks like they have some nice offerings.  Too modern for my taste but I still respect the style.  I especially like how many of their cabinets had doors that slid back and in when opened.

I think this is all too often overlooked with 99% of furniture today because of the cost of building like this.  When the doors don't slide back they are in the way.  To me this isn't an option anymore.

If you're located in New England, Stan Pike does very high quality work and designs  http://www.stanpikedesigns.com/former.htm .   I'd try looking locally for a cabinetmaker though, it makes for better communication and helps insure you're getting exactly what you want.  I've found a great local shop that is willing to do partial projects with me!

While lighter woods are less common, I would suggest hunting down a vintage danish credenza or hifi cabinet, something along the lines of this...

or this...

or in your neck of the woods...

Vintage danish furniture is far better constructed than anything you can buy today, and if you keep it in good shape the bonus is it goes it up in value!

These racks look SO much nicer in person then in the photos.
The Samson v2 is really nice and so solid, you can go-go dance on top (well maybe your girlfriend can) without it moving even a fraction.

Timbernation – Nice and solid stuff, I bit bold looking.
