Florian,

You are a wildman!!

I saw your post in the Acoustics Circle and two minutes later your pulled the trigger.

Do be aware that you'll probably need to use a "combo" of the TACT and room treatments.

The TACT won't do anything for ringing energy, in the bass octaves.

Maybe you can talk Ethan into letting you be a "rep" for his "Real Traps" in Germany.

Sounds like a very good idea to me. I will write him a mail. I still have my current DIY treatments, but the Tact is great nonetheless :-)

I bought a 2.0S a few weeks ago and love it.  The learning curve is pretty high but once you get the hang of it you will be amazed.  Try it in bypass and you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.  I left all my room treatments in place after removing them and deciding it sounded better with them.  The Tact really helped with the RM40's bass in my small 14x12X9 room - bass actually sounds great now ;)  I use the internal DAC (I actually prefer it to a Benchmark DAC1) and feed it with a Squeezebox.  Sounds great.

Actually no, but thank you for judging me before asking

I sold my Pre amp and lcd projector to buy this unit. I also teach english, fix computers on the side and have a part time job inquiring (phoning) about garden products.

I have had 2 companys and i am about to start another one, also i have worked my ass off for years already and absolutly nothing was sponsored by my parents exept the shipping by which they helped me since i was in need.

good day

I was thinking the same, but it must be the exchange rate! Tact probably only cost 5 Euros at the current rate.

I don't need you to clear anything for me.  What you do with your money or friends or their wives mean nothing to me.  I am too stupid to understand......... Good bye.

Wait a minute, I take umbrage at being called a woman!    :argue:   Not for me, but for all those fine women who have been fighting this sort of stereotyping!      Have some care for their feelings.  It's been a stuggle for them.

Wow if everytime I called someone a woman I was forced to read 10 pages of info I would never do it again :!:

As moderator of the VMPS circle, I suggest that all "personal" assumptions, attacks, and negatively probing questions be taken care of via Personal Messaging.

I would also suggest that negatively inspired references to races, or stereotypes not be posted here, even in jest.

If you wish to engage is "personal confrontation, exploration, or insinuation" please take it to the "fight club" circle where all manner of communication seems to be acceptable and available

Thanks

Speaking of TACT, anyone know what the differences are between the 2.0S and the 2.2X?  Tact's website isn't clear about this.

The RCS 2.0S is a two channel unit.  The RCS 2.2X has two additional channels of correction for use with subs, or for active biamp of the main speakers.  There is also a TCSmk2 which is a ten channel unit, designed mainly for multichannel systems.

Florian, congratulations on your purchase.  I almost gave up on the TacT during my first week because the learning curve is quite high and the initial results were terrible.  Luckily I stuck it out, and now I cannot imagine listening to my system without it.

The 2.0S corrects for two channels only.  The 2.2x can be used in 2.0 mode (2 channel), 2.1 mode (mains plus one sub) or 2.2 mode (mains plus 2 subs).
The 2.2x will measure main speakers and subs separately and will corrct and calculate delays between them.  Xrossover between mains and subs can be set between 50-325Hz, second to tenth order.
Processing power is similar for the two but low freq measurement is more accurate with the 2.2x.
If you are leaning towards Tact, I would recommend the 2.2x as it is more flexible.

Regards

Jose

Gee Flo, have a cream soda and calm down dude. I merely pointed out the obvious. One day you're broke, the next you drop kilobucks on audio so I was confused. You made your life details publicly available at AC so I am just commenting-would you rather no one pays attention to you? Shouldn't you pay your parents back with the money you got from selling the pre-amp and LCD?

I know I am a little stupid and I know Germans in general have a short fuse for stupid people (I believe you used to shoot them 60 years ago) but cut me some slack, I'll catch up eventually.

I am sorry, i am just in a pissy mood i guess. I am weird when it comes to money, i seem to be able to turn crap into gold. I dont know why, but i wish the rest would too  :D

I am at a loss to explain the behavior of jpsartre, whose only contribution here is to cast aspersions at other posters.  Mr. sartre is herewith asked to leave and not return, under his current or any other moniker.  Voilations will be punished by banishment from AC entirely.

I would ask him to acknowledge having read this message, at which time all his posts will be deleted.

I just found some new information regarding the model numbers from Tact.
Here is a quote.

Quote
he RCS2.2 was replaced by the RCS2.0 in 1999. The “confusion” in the model-numbers is actually the description of the number of channels. The RCS2.2 had build-in crossovers for main-speakers and subwoofers, therefore the 2+2 channels. The newer RCS2.0 does not have this feature but is vastly improved in all other aspects; hardware and software is completely re-designed and with a modular layout, the RCS2.0 will accommodate any future upgrade in both hardware as well as software.
The RCS2.0 is available in different configurations, starting with the base version RCS2.0 DD at $2,950 and ending with the RCS2.0 AA at $4,248. (More info on the RCS2.0 at www.tactaudio.com/RCS2_0.html )

More info on the unit and a cool read.

I'd have to get the 2.2x, then, as I would want to integrate my subs into the front channels.  Can you also integrate LFE into this?  In other words, I can currently put my LFE channel into my two front subs and my rear sub by using the NHT X2 active crossover.  I could care less whether there's any processing to the LFE channel -- all I care about is boom for that channel.
