This week was the Senior Games national championships. It was held in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
This is a collection of the best athletes in the nation coming together to compete in their respective age groups. I compete in the 55 to 59 year old age group.
Thursday was 50 meter qualifying. I easily made the field for the final.
Friday was the 50 meter final. It was a tightly packed group separated by inches for most of the field. I managed to get fourth.

After that race was 100 meter qualifying. I actually qualified second for the field.
Saturday was the 100 meter finals. I took third.

Some of us had already planned getting together for the 4 by 100 meter relay. David Gibbons was injured from the 50 meter final, so we had to find another guy to fill in. I grabbed a long jumper and distance runner that had pretty good 100 meter speed and made a team.
We ran that race on Monday. We not only won our age group. We had the fastest time for the event, and set a new NSGA record of 47.79.

Here are the new NSGA 4 x 100 meter record holders, holding onto the paton. The tall guy in the background is the great Oscar Payton (now 69 years old) and one of the members of the 4 x 100 team that set the record in 2013.
Check out the great Oscar Payton:

I fly back home in a few hours and will make it in pretty late. I will be back to work on Wed and try to get caught back up.
