According to my friend who was a classically trained guitarist. He said years ago rock is basically 3 chords, simple to play.(something like that).
Take for example this song by Judas Priest- Genocide. It starts out like they're just playing chords but as the song progresses I find the smooth integration of the guitars working together to be a brilliant piece of work. Not simple at all.
