Although their version of “high quality” may differ from ours.

Interesting tech.  Frequency response, distortion levels, dynamic range?  Realizing this is developing tech we've still got a ways to go before selling your current speakers.

It seems there are many technologies that are going to revolutionize how things work. Graphene, from my (limited) understanding is still working the bugs out but will have many applications including electronic. Also, take in to consideration work done by Bybee, Synergistic Research and others which (seem to) work on a molecular level in order to manipulate sound quality. Add to this the MIT stuff and things we look at today as far as sound quality will be left in the dust.
It would be strange to think that in the future, extremely realistic sound quality would be commonplace, and the poor old audiophile would no longer have a niche market, but the desire by said audiophile to listen to music would still allow that to happen.

I find it hard to imagine that deep, room shaking bass could be produced by a paper-thin sheet speaker stuck on a wall.

Very cool, but I will pass. My Oticas aren't going anywhere, in fact I gave them a hug last night, that's right I said it, and it felt right.  :o

Cheers

At AXPONA 2022 there appeared to be more high-end horns (the oldest speaker technology) present than in earlier years; one can't get much more "traditional" than that.

Early B.

Yep. Horn technology is the next big thing. Perhaps in the near future more audiophiles will grow horns. And good luck trying to replace subwoofers with thin panels.

i could care less - anymore - there have been so many technologies for speakers and amps and cables and footers and preamps etc. that never come to market - even if they did it doesnt - mean they sound any good

Judging from the sound clip in the video, this might be a case where an Audio Science Review measurement actually correlates to how good something sounds.

This sounds similar to an AMT.  They are using little tiny domes, but the rest of it is pretty much the same as far as I can tell.

Many years a go in the 1970s as a teenager I had read some vintage1950/60 Radio Amateur & Readers Digest magazines from a late friend senior EE, the audio press made the public think that the Transistor was astonishing better, which turned out to be only more convenient, the magazine articles were overwhelming with the tubes, which were called technology of the past, old, and transistors were constantly associated with the space age and the technology of the future. LOL

And the CD was superior to the LP.
