Electra Cable Tube Connectors
« on: 12 Apr 2022, 10:42 am »
I completed my Klipsch RP-8000F and RP-504C crossover kit upgrades recently. I think they sound great! Thanks Danny and Hobbs for your help!

One area of concern for me. After installing the Electra Cable Tube Connectors, with a few of them, the connections seem too loose when inserting, no effort at all. I just couldn't imagine a connection this loose having a good solid contact. In the spare of the moment, maybe without thinking about a solid solution, I took and (for lack of a better term) squished the male end a little so it feels tight now. But, after doing this, in my mind, maybe the actual contact area is less now?

What do I do? Leave it like this? Get new male ends? (If available?) Use some high quality banana connectors?

Looking for advise please? I can't imagine I'm the only one that has loose Tube Connectors?

Thanks,
Tom

We're supposed to tighten the female ends before we send them out, but it seems some are getting missed. I'll let our guys know to make sure they'rr snug before they leave.

But the best way to tighten them is to remove the male end then use pliars to squeeze down on the female ends, going around in a circle to make sure the shape allows for good contact all the way around, without damaging or deforming anything. Then if they still feel loose, adjust the depth & how hard you're squeezing until it feels snug.

Adjusting the male end less than ideal. As it cant really be undone

We do sell the male ends for $3 each if you would prefer to star over.

Thanks Hobbs, yes, I would like to start over and do it the proper way. I didn't think of tightening the female end because of the coating. I like to learn something every day!
I would like to order 6 please, what is the procedure?
Also, another question please. For the amp side, are lugs the best over banana's?
Thanks,
Tom

You can give us a call or shoot us an email.

General we prefer spades over bananas as the spades are gold coated copper while the bananas are copper with a brass spring. So you get a more solid, direct connection with spades over bananas.

I realized my tube connectors needed tightened after I had hot glued them into my Klipsch  :duh:

I appreciated Hobbs quick reply. Got them removed and squeezed down. They are amazing. I’ll be adding a set to my amps soon as well.

Having the issue of deciding what speakers to build out. The Oticas look amazing but I am concerned about the size in my room. Also like the Otica MTM. Any word on efficiency and/or availability of those in the future.

I had considered the X MTM but figure I might as well try something new like open baffle and not build another box floor stand speaker.

Here's my 2 cents, the most recommended speaker on this site is the NX Studio. I had a lot of anxiety on what speaker to build and the Studio's came up recommended over and over again.

And yes they are everything I wanted and more. They have very good bass output, I don't know if I need a sub for music.

I put mine on 28" Monoprice stands, perfect, for me anyway lol.

OK back to the main topic.

I second those. Bass output in my small room is -3dB @42hz. I still have mine paired with twin SVS for a little more body down low, but integration is super smooth and easy. Depending on listening habits, might not be necessary. Also, what sold the deal for me was Tyson mentioning getting that OB sound when pulled out from the front wall, and I absolutely stand behind that as well. Soundstage width, detail and smooth frequency responce is great when up against the wall, but pull them out to let them breathe and just revel in the deep soundstage they create. Getting the tweeter out beyond ~33" is the starting point where things get real fun. :thumb: I still keep going back and forth on my setup as to which I like better.

Sorry to sidetrack the thread.  :nono:
