My first serious loudspeakers were JBL L44's (from the early 70's, 8 inch full range driver with 8 inch passive radiator). They made my all-in-one Panasonic AM/FM/cassette and later Pioneer 626 sound fabulous. A few years ago heard JBL 305 and 305 Mk2 (compact 2-way, $300/pair). Very nice, something I'd be satisfied with for a long time. Then bought JBL 708P's (large 2-way, $4000/pair). Probably the best overall loudspeaker I've ever heard/owned. Have owned others along the way.
