Newbie from Las Vegas
« on: 6 Apr 2022, 04:50 pm »
Hello, I'm newbie from Las Vegas. Currently running Paradigm Millenia 300 + SVS SB-1000Pro subwoofer. Really into vintage amplifiers at the moment, particularly by Nikko. Delving into the world of separates has been a fun journey thus far. Met a couple audiophiles this past weekend driving up the coast of California (yes I drove 8 hours to buy an amplifier). Both audiophiles were ex-military people and both had homes filled to the rack with audio gears, both old and new. Both had incredible systems, both had custom made speakers that you can't find. One was a tinkerer, the other simply a user. Spent roughly an hour with each shooting the breeze about audio and learning a lot.

Prior to this, I had met another audiophile who was into Harmon Kardon. Not the Harmon of late, mind you, but the Harmon Kardon of vintage, way back when their amplifiers were still made in New York. That's when I heard the Nineteen for the first time, wow! This guy was also a tinkerer really into Sirius radio for some reason. Liked to buy broken radio receivers, patch them up and resell them.

I met all these guys while buying audio gear as they all had way more 'stuff' than they needed.

Welcome, mahadragon! I am another "newbie" from Las Vegas. Apparently I made an introduction ( my only post ) back in Aug. of last year. It is good to see another Nevadan posting and here. We are probably not alone. I'm here, at this time, to gather information on a line of loudspeakers. I love reading the posts here and particularly enjoy the insights gained from reading the posts by industry insiders.

At any rate, glad you're here! Enjoy!

Enough out of me.
