Bryguy here, introducing myself
« on: 21 Mar 2022, 05:29 am »
Howdy folks, I'm Bryan. I'm 20 years old, and I have been obsessed with audio since I was 12.

I just moved into a new house, and have the opportunity to set up multiple systems for my dad, who after his stroke is basically trapped home. Anyways, I formed this account because it seems there's a lot of useful info here. So hey!

Welcome!

Is this something your Dad wants or something you think would be nice to do for him?  Other questions to be answered:

1.)  Can he get around the house on his own?  (If not why have A/V in each room?)
2.)  Has he ever watched TV in the bedroom or listened to the radio in the kitchen?  (Do you envision him really using a multiple room setup?)
3.)  Would the overall system be connected to a single source/amp/remote?

Suggest looking for a very, very simple to use system.  Years ago I setup my parents one room TV, satellite box, and VCR rig.  Got it all to control off one remote.  Went back two weeks later and after a lightening storm they hadn't been able to use any of them, so went back to 3 remotes (and they never used the VCR).  Be aware of the generation he's coming from you were probably the remote control.  As parents age they digress back to their earlier years and may just want to watch TV Land or listen to a single commercial free big band or classic rock radio station.
