My Shearwaters definitely have the model on the back. Paul built a lot of prototypes, custom builds, and small run speakers. He's back in business last I heard. All custom speakers, active with DSP, cost no object. Drop a note with a pic attached, if it's only identifying a speaker I wouldn't imagine Paul would ignore you.
I think you mean Pat, Pat McGinty. Pat or a member of the community over at hifihaven.org, where Pat hangs out, should be able to identify them for you.
Decades ago I heard the 2-way Kestel in a 12ft glass cube (horrible) and the 3-way Herron where I fell asleep (good sign or bad?).
Yes, the universal criticism is too polite, not dynamic enough. The total lack of brashness and bite is also lauded as their greatest strength, they're very musical and sweet combined with impressive detail. They actually have plenty of dynamics if driven by a beefy enough amp, I'm thinking around 400 watts would be about right. The listed efficiency ratings are very optimistic.
Pat made a Heron model with a gas filled tweeter which over time lost its gas.
