Bryston 4B3 questio
« on: 20 Feb 2022, 04:28 am »
Stumbled upon a situation, when I dial down the volume with my preamp ( without any music playing,),  I can hear noise in left channel, same as  increasing the volume (something like a clicking noise ).  Right channel no noise is heard at all.  When playing music, no noise is heard.

Would this be indicating an issue with my amp or preamp?

Like I mentioned, I stumbled upon this when I thought my preamp was muted when dialing down the volume.

Hope I explained the situation well enough.

I running an Allnic preamp

Thanks

Did you disconnect the pre amp and listened if any unwanted sounds were still there?

It sounds like a dirty volume control on the preamplifier

If you change the left channel cable with right from the preamp to the amp and the noise changes sides - its the preamp

Thanks Mr. Tanner. swap out left and right on the back of the preamp, noise appeared in the right channel.

Should of thought of that.
