Hi from sunny Arizona!

Hi folks.  I’ve gotten back into vinyl like many others.  Sold off my original equipment from the ‘80’s when kids came along and didn’t have time to enjoy LPs.  Recently then I’ve been acquiring and making minor updates to older stuff.  Started with 1978 Klipsch Heresy 1’s.  Replaced oil can caps in the crossovers with Bob Crites sonicaps.  Then moved the connections down on the transformer to calm the highs and enhance the bass on those speakers.  I picked up a Music Hall mmm-5 turntable and Dynaco ST-70 tube amp (upgraded by prior owner with VTA boards) from local guys selling off their ‘extra’ equipment, via Craigslist.  A friend gave me a PS Audio 4.6 preamp and I was off and running!

Of course, one always wonders if other equipment will improve the sound, so I picked up a Hafler DH-220 SS amp that had been in a guys closet for a few years.  I upgraded the caps and it sounded pretty good.  Ran across a Dynaco ST-120 SS amp so bought it and it gave me a bit more bass.  But I was still missing out on some bottom end so added a Klipsch 12” subwoofer.  Sounds even better.  Been rocking’ and rollin’ now for a little while and enjoying my old vinyl and picking up some used and new LPs.  Added a Pioneer CD player and picked up some more CDs as well.

I just picked up an older AVA Super PAS 3 tube preamp.  Just hooked it up and will likely need a bit of updating.

Just joined this forum to get some more ideas as I have some rudimentary skills and am looking forward to a fun hobby as I move closer to retirement!  Have a great day!!
