Intro and question about fiberglass insulation
« on: 28 Jan 2022, 10:48 pm »
Howdy, first post. Finished assembling the desktop minis and have them hooked up to iMac.  The more I listen the more it seems muffled especially around 250-500 hertz. Wondering if this is due to maybe too much insulation? Thanks

That can definitely happen, especially if the speaker is overstuffed.
The filling should be placed inside loosely along the walls with some space directly behind the woofer.

Thanks for reply. Turns out it's the iMac itself. Pulled out some filler from one speaker and it made no difference, so I hooked up the old speakers and muffled quality was still there, but the GR speakers have so much more detail and bass than the old ones, that it is more obvious. Fortunately it is more obvious on podcasts than music, so who cares.
