NX Studio Speaker Stand Height?
« on: 11 Jan 2022, 01:23 am »
What is the recommended height for the studio's?

When seated my ears are about four feet or so from the floor. I have my Mini Desktop tweeter set to this height. However this is apples to oranges with the OB tweeter. Having never owned OB speakers I really don't know how to set them up for height.

The stands Im looking at come in 24", 28", or 32" plus 1 1/2" to 2" for spikes or isolators.

Thanks in advance.

My dual 8" servo sub stands are roughly 28" tall.
And depending on the chair you're using, you might was to get them a little lower.
I use an office chair at full height so I can lean back when I listen.
But for something like a couch or recliner I would probably want them at ~24"

Thanks Hobbs,

So if I get the 24" stands, I can block them up if I want to. That's what I was thinking.

I’ve got 28” stands that seems like a lot to block up from 24”

Generally, the ideal height to experience the best sound will be to position your speaker's tweeter at approximately the same height as your ears – when you are in your normal listening position. For most people, this will be when they are sitting in their favorite armchair.

I would be adding 2" for isolators, so 26". Then if needed have 2" thick butchers block I was going to use as base for diy stands.

Yes 100%, if you look at the first post you will see I said that. The thing is I have never owned or even heard Open Back speakers. Also never had a "ribbon" tweeter. So this is the land of unknown for me. And I don't want to get nice stands and then be to tall.

In the end after doing more measuring and mocking up my cabinets, 28" seems about right.

Thanks everyone.

wgraft5,
I did acknowledge what you initially mentioned. I was simply reiterating the importance, for the newcomers of the hobby, so they can benefit, regardless what speaker model they may have, with a few exceptions of course.

Good Luck with your new stands! :thumb:
