Amp Recommendations For BMR Philharmonics
« on: 10 Jan 2022, 05:36 am »
Hello all,

As part of my introduction post I wanted to see if anyone had some recommendations for an amplifier. I was looking at a boXem Arthur 3409/N2 but they are out of stock until at least mid Feb.

My goal is for a music only setup that will be able to stream some sort of lossless or near lossless audio service (tidal/Qobuz/deezer etc) and I may or may not add a sub in the future.

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Frank, I think that your stuff is fantastic and I highly recommend recommend it all the time but Dennis uses various equipment and if you go to his AVS forum thread, you'll get shot down for suggesting that components make any difference in sound. Denon receivers are great, don't you know?

chilly1 -- Wlecome, and great speakers. Maybe the best value in audio. I have a Van Alstine SET120 amp. Also, one of the best values in audio I've heard, along with your speakers, and I think they'd be a great match. I tried to PM you but since you're a new member the system won't allow me. Get some posts on here and we can message. I never thought I'd sell this amp but haven't used it in a year because we moved and I only have 1 system now, and promised my wife I'd thin the herd to do some house projects. I was thinking of listing it this weekend. I used it with some Salk Song3's, which use the same tweeter as the BMR's and it sounded detailed, airy and totally non-fatiguing. Again, I think it would be a great pair with the BMR's. If you need one with volume control Van Alstine has the same amp with volume in the SET120 Control amp.

I’ll agree with abd1 and confirm that the AVA SET 120 is an excellent amp and a tremendous value for the money. I have the Control Amp version.
