New old guy from Wi.

Hello everyone. Glad to be a new member. Hope this new year takes us all into a good normal.
Been into stereo since the 70's, but had a stalemate with it for awhile to take care of life things first, now it's retirement time and am getting back into it slowly but surely. :thumb:

Welcome!

Hope you're happy with vinyl or are computer savvy.  Audio has gone heavy into internet streaming (with lots of advantages, but a steep learning curve).  Little need for a preamp but a Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) is a necessity.  Another development is active monitors (separate amps for each driver built into the cabinet) which can include Digital Signal Processing (DSP) for room compensation.

Welcome back to the nut house !  Like you I got involved while in high school (late sixties / early seventies) and kinda laid low twenty some years ago putting two kids through college and paying off a mortgage. Enjoy yourself getting back in and your timing is good for the analog niche market is alive !

BTW, love your state, met a lot of great folk there over the years !

Welcome!

My entree into the high end was courtesy of a shop in your fine state, where I was finishing up college in '78. I had started reading The Abso!ute Sound and sold all my mid-fi gear and 35mm camera equipment, and bought some nice stuff from Dave Holmes at The Audio Emporium, then on Brown Deer at the north edge of Milwaukee. I've been more or less at it ever since.

    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

I'm in my late 60s and live in Dane Co, WI.  Still enjoying audio gear.
