Just returned to my journey to seek the musical truth after a 20 year hiatus. Started my new journey with some old friends, a pair of B&W CDM9NT's a crappy amp to hear them ( Yamaha RT 1060 ) and a rather large collection of lossless .flac files I created over the years. I also have a pair of B&W CDM SNT's and a CDM CNT center channel that I purchased with the used CDM9NT's and 3 x MIT AV3t Speaker cables all for a grand total of $1400 US. I am hearing some funkyness and I suspect some of the crossover components are tired and need to be replaced. If you have any recommendations on a place to buy new crossovers I am all ears.
I am also looking for recommendations on a new AMP and Preamp. The tons of old high end gear on craigslist is tempting but being an electrical engineer I know that caps go bad rather quickly and would rather look at some new tech. Not sure I trust the new Class H or G amplifier craze. I loved my old Levinson 333 but I am afraid of buying one with bad caps that I need to resource.
