Treating Mullard gold tube pins
« on: 20 Dec 2021, 04:39 pm »
Just got my NOS Mullard CV2493 KQDD/K tubes and am ready to install them in my Audible Illusions M3A. Would it be a good idea to brush some Deoxit D-series D100L on the gold pins prior to installation?
Thanks

No reason not to.
I have used it on high current automotive bulb contacts with goods results.
D100L can handle up to 200C. If the contacts get hotter use Gold Gx2, up to 500C.
But with good tight pin contacts they should not get above 200C.

Yes, you can use it, probably won't make much difference.  After a while, the heat cycle will cause a black residue on the socket contacts.  I have seen this many times, I had to clean up the octal socket contacts with IPA and a pipe cleaner.

Thanks for your observations. I've decided that no treatment will be used on my tubes pins or sockets.
