I love the idea of this topic.
As a music enthusiast, I was always looking for Christmas music that really was recorded well and that moved me to feel that holiday joy. Not an overly religious man, but spiritual yes. Since my dad used to be a DJ in the 40's and always had music in the house. I grew up on Andy William's classic Christmas Album which is truly special. Sprinkle in Bing, Frank, Johnny Mathis and that's kinda tough to beat. Holly and Diana K also came up with some nice Christmas albums, but I still didn't find one one I was looking for.
I used to have a close audio buddy who was a strong Christian and used to like the Christian singer Amy Grant. He would say, listen to your stereo with some of her songs and I remember in mind saying, Christian music is nice and all, but I don't too much preaching when listening to music. So I politely said, yes, Z (his nickname) I'll have to check her out.
Not long after, I heard some pop tunes that she released on the radio. I said, I really liked her songs and voice, got excited when they were on the radio, but never bought an album or searched for more.
Back to searching for some really good Christmas music and I said, let me look for some Amy Grant Christmas music- Who Knows!. I saw her Christmas Collection CD, and said let me gamble on it. I thought it might be to serious versions of songs i had heard, but I'll go for it.
Well, you never really get rewarded unless you take a chance. The musicianship is so strong, recorded well and her voice is really one of a kind. There all all kinds of styles and she even writes some of her tunes. It's tremendous Christmas Music!
This self written tune is awesome and captures so many things I love about listening to a strong artist. Again, the rest of the CD won't sound exactly like this one, since she is a diverse artist. I will say, they all are on the same level. I never heard ~19 songs get played so quickly

Z, if your reading this, thanks for the tip over 30 years ago. I was a fool not to check her out earlier.
Enjoy, "I Need a Silent Night" !!
