odyssey stratos single channel hum

Hi guys,
I have been having problems with my setup and thought I would illicit the help of the experts here.  I have a cap upgraded odyseey stratos connected to a ee minimax preamp.  I am getting a very faint hum on the left channel, but not the right.  The hum is slight but noticeable from 7 feet away in a dead silent room.  I don't think it's the setup as I have tried swapping interconnects, speaker wire etc.  I'm pretty sure it's the amp as I have also tried disconnecting everything from the amp exept the speakers.  It seems to always happen on the left channel of the amp.  I tried swapping speakers as well and verified this.  The right channel is silent.

Here is the kicker.  When I turn the preamp on, the hum goes away.  Any ideas?  Maybe Klaus can offer some insight or helpful hints.
Thanks,
Rob

I demo'd the EE MiniMax Pre, and did not have this problem.  I really liked the sound of the MiniMax, but returned it because I could not live w/o an HT bypass or a remote.

I kept the EE MiniMax CDP, which results in a hum in the speakers when the CDP is turned on and no music is playing.  I hope the Etesian Pre that I have ordered from Klaus will help with this (using my NAD AVR as a pre at the moment).

Hope this helps.

Rob,
I had a similar problem with the stratos amp humming when my preamp was not turned on as well... but this was due to the Nordost IC cable i had plugged from the preamp to the amp. Once i switched to a cable with a shield or a braid the hum went away... but i was also getting this is both speakers.. i suspect your problem is not the same as mine.

I spoke with Klaus about a week ago.  He said he was way behind in emails.  You might want to give him a phone call instead.

I have hum in both channels, but certainly not audible from more than 1ft away so it's somewhat acceptable since it seems most high-powered amps exhibit this type of issue and it doesn't affect the sonics. Klaus is easy to work with if you call him directly some time in the after noon. He'll fix it up for you.

Yep I talked to him yesterday and he is there right now.  He does answer his phone if you give him a call.
