Going to go with the NX Treme speakers
« on: 11 Dec 2021, 10:34 pm »
but I live in Minnesota and it is freezing outside. Out in my garage is the only place I could paint the baffles. I could do all the glueing and assembling inside though. My question is : Can I paint the baffles come springtime and after everything is assembled ? I am a professional painter so I would feel comfortable masking drivers off and probably anything else that would need to get covered.
Is this too much to tackle ? please let me know your thoughts. Thanks, mike

I would recommend not using any heat shrink on thr drivers, just solder. Then in spring, desoldering the woofer and tweeter, pushing the cables back down into the cabinet, then masking off the entrance to the cabinets.
You can get away with masking off the tube connectors, i wouldn't recommend it for the woofers.

Then once the painting is done, reinstalling the drivers and use the heat shrink to make the connection more permanent.

I have some thoughts on this. I've built 2 sets of these speakers and live just over an hour from you (Menomonie, WI). Let me know if I can help.
