Neo 3 tweeter size concern.
« on: 11 Dec 2021, 08:58 pm »
I'm thinking about upgrading to something in the NX line but have a concern about the tweeter.  Considering that the Neo 3 is quite a bit larger than the T26SG won't it also start beaming at a lower frequency as well reducing the off axis performance? or is this compensated for some how?

The GR Neo-3 is a world class tweeter.  They are super smooth both on and off axis.  I don’t think you need to worry about it.  Keep reading the forum posts about the NX series.  Go watch New Record Day’s videos on you tube.

The yarn used in the outer holes of the GR Neo 3 allow for the wider dispersion pattern much like the BG Neo3 PDRW models, without losing any sensitivity, as the BG models only had 6 magnets instead of the 10 used in the standard Neo3 and GR Neo3.

Thats said, there's nothing to worry about with that tweeter.

The Neo 3 is difficult to design a box for but it sounds amazing.  They are really good off axis and even better on axis.  It's easily one of the best sounding tweeters I've ever heard and is definitely better sounding than any dome tweeter I've heard.  I highly recommend it.
