Issues with my.bryston.com
« on: 3 Dec 2021, 02:44 pm »
Hi James,

My BDA-3.14 has two static addresses in my router, and both are recognized with the command my.bryston.com. So far so good.

My BCD-3 also has a static address, but only appears in the browser window after about one hour! Not earlier.

My SP3 has a static address: xxx.xxx.xxx.100. After typing that address in Google Chrome, the message appears “server not available”.

When I type my.bryston.com in my browser the address is given as xxx.xxx.xxx.243 under the line, meaning it isn’t available anymore. That is correct because the real address is xxx.xxx.xxx.242.

I am very confused about this.

1. Why is the static address of the BCD-3 only available after an hour?

2. What I don’t understand about the SP3 is why a) the static address doesn’t function and b) my.bryston.com gives the wrong address.

Can you explain to me what is going on here?

Thanks,

WillyP

Hi Willy,

The BCD-3's firmware was never integrated with the mybryston network portal, I'm not sure why but it wasn't.

As for the SP3 I would recommend changing its network interface back to dhcp from static using the menu on the front of the unit.  Page 45 of the SP3 manual describes how to get to the menu option, however I'm not sure how accurate the manual is as I don't have access to an SP3.

Hope this helps,
Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your prompt reply. The network interface of the SP3 always has been dhcp. The static address for the SP3 was configured in the router. I have removed the static address, but that doesn’t make a difference. The address on the display of the SP3 is not the same as the address that my.bryston.com shows. Finding the right address isn’t an easy task.

Oh sorry I misunderstood, you can get to the SP3 once you figure out the correct IP address assigned to the SP3?  The problem is my.bryston.com doesn't show the correct IP address?  Also I don't make it on to the forums as much as I use to, spread a little thin and emailing usually gets the fastest results.

Download and install "Net Analizer" (or something similar) on your phone, that will give you all ip addresses of everything in the network your phone is connected to.
