Hi All. Been lurking on AudioCircle and other forums for a while now. I've been bouncing in and out of interest in audio for over 50 years always seeking ways to maximize performance on a limited budget.
After moving 2 years ago, I no longer have space for an audio-only system. I am currently looking to upgrade my HT/Audio kit to make it more appropriate for both. I expect it to be a long, fun process.
As part of a spouse-initiated living room makeover, I am starting with replacing my current Tekton Design LCR speakers and subwoofer. Alas, aesthetics are important and the Tektons aren't especially spouse friendly. I am also targeting a more detailed, musical system with HT coming along for the ride (even though I expect HT to sound great too). I live in a townhouse with an attached neighbor so reference volumes are out. It is, however, very well insulated so there haven't been any issues with somewhat "spirited" listening.
I actually prefer a detailed, analytical sound. Of the many music systems I've owned my favorite had custom speakers (bought used with nice custom cabinets) with North Creek Audio crossovers (apparently known to be somewhat bright) in two way speakers with a 7" Revelater woofer and dome tweeter (don't recall the model).
My preferred music is symphonic classical and classic soft rock (James Taylor, Eagles, Carly Simon, Elton John, Steely Dan etc.).
I am gravitating toward Salk speakers because they get great reviews for both sound and aesthetics.
Thanks in advance for everyone's help!
Paul
