New to AudioCircle from Idaho
« on: 25 Nov 2021, 06:15 pm »
Hi All,

I guess this is a good way to force a newbie out of the shadows  :o

This past year, after feeling a bit dragged out from Covid, I decided to renew a fledgling interest in audio. I had good speakers but nothing else-- so I couldn't even really enjoy the speakers I bought 14 years ago. Now... I am starting to take the time to search out stuff, buy equipment, and really listen to what sounds good to me. It's finally become a hobby.  I'm getting closer to retirement so I'm wanting to value what gives me a sense of life-- and audio seems to do that!

I am glad to make your acquaintance!

  • To whom more was given more will be required.
    • Never go to a psychiatrist, adopt a straycat or dog. On the street they live only two years average.

Welcome from another Idahoan, Meridian to be exact. This is a great place to learn more about audio and/or get some of your questions answered. Enjoy!

Welcome!

Depending on how power thirsty your loudspeakers are, how big your listening space is, and how loud you like it will determine your wattage needs.  Tubes are more limited in terms of wattage and are more hobby oriented (tube swapping/replacement and voicing choices) than solid state.  In the past 14 years class D has come into it's own.  I recently bought 70 watt Temple Audio mono-blocks with dedicated power supplies that are outstanding performers at a reasonable price from England.

Near North Idaho, an audiophile wasteland.

I’m in Eagle. After 15 years I found an audio group here in the valley and hope to get more involved with them in the future.
