I have a few quads of Svetlana Electron Devices (SED) EL34 tubes from the original St. Petersburg plant that I bought from a major tube vendor in 2002. Triple Platinum Tested and Matched. Guaranteed. ASKING $300.
The St Petersburg plant was the last of the great tube sites in the world, whose power tubes are often considered second-best ever made (like these and 6550C) and on occasion the best ever (e.g., SED 6L6GC from same era).
They are not branded (no print on glass), but I guarantee they are the original (true NOS), highly desired, pre-2002, EL34 by SED from St. Petersburg plant, and guarantee they are perfectly matched in Gm on Hickok TV-10, dynamic emissions on Eico666 and current and Gm on a Maximatcher. I bought these from the largest tube vendor when he was just starting in the business in 2001, who had cases of these burned in for 24 hr and matched. They are PERFECT QUADS of true St. Pete, before the factory started having ownership issues. Guaranteed.
The step-up from here are Mullard normal-base '61-'68 UK EL34 and good luck finding platinum matched quads of those as true NOS for < $1,000. Depending on the system, these St. Pete EL34 give almost 90% sonics of the UK Mullards. These SED with welded plates and dual halo also last a very, very long time and can take the voltages (550V) and current (48 mA lights the LED) put out by CJ amps as good as any EL34 I have tried.
Will post pics and data upon request.
