Spatial Audio Product History/Taxonomy ??
« on: 6 Oct 2021, 04:02 am »
Can anybody direct me to a list of all the Spatial Audio speakers since the company began.  I can’t afford a new pair and would be very interested in something used, but I have no idea how Triode Master compares to a Turbo to a Turbo S to a M4 etc.  It would be very helpful if I could find a table with all the products, their main features, the year they came out, etc.  Does something like that exist?

If not, could a few people jot down a couple of things they know and I will compile a completed list and post it.

a good endeavor.  here is a small start: Triode Masters were especially efficient and designed to use with tube amps.

Yes I agree would be nice to do. I think some other companies like Vandersteen have this online. I know my M3 Sapphires were the first version without the outboard crossover so maybe a "version 1" and "2", etc. Not sure about the other speakers.

Could we start with these M3 names?   Does anybody know the date of issue, the basic components, original price etc. for:

M3 M-Force
M3 Hologram
M3 Turbo and Turbo S
M3 Triode Master
M3 Sapphire

Here is my first swing at it (not sure any of this is accurate, but I got it off a few reviews):

M Force is an M3 without compression driver or crossover. May have come with separate plate amp (?).

“Hologram” does not appear to be a model name, but the name of the M3 family or technology or (?)

M3 Turbo is same as basic M3. 2015. $1995 to $2195. 2 15-inch midwoofers.  42” x17” x 3” baffle thickness.  Compression driver. 94dB.

M3 Turbo S 2016. $2495 to $2795  2 15-inch midwoofers.  42” x17” x 3” baffle thickness. M25 compression driver.  Film capacitors in crossover.  94dB.  4 Ohm.

M3 Triode Master. 2018.   $3995.   Two 15″ paper cone mid/woofers with one M35 dipolar 1” compression drivers.  42.5” x 17.5” x 2.5”. baffle thickness.  95 dB 16 OHM!

M3 Sapphire.  2020.  $4995.  Two 15″ paper cone mid/woofers and a (custom by Peerless) M100 sapphire dome tweeter, above woofers. 45” x 18” x 3”.  92 dB. 4 ohm.
