Introduction and Down Sizing
« on: 5 Oct 2021, 05:55 pm »
Hello,

My name is Tim and I'm recently retired and gearing DOWN to simplify/travel.  This involves getting rid of large speakers/amps/multiple turntables/CD players and eventually CD's and Vinyl.

I'm not an Audiophile but, have my threshold of what's "good enough"...  Right now I have JBL L150-A's, Audio Research PS6 pre-amp and a few mid-fi power amps all connected with conventional wire and interconnects.

I've purchased a pair of Sony "unicorns" and some ELAC small 2-ways to install GR's crossovers and upgrades.  I have a Martin Logan Dynamo Sub if these can't extend the bass fare enough which might not be the best plan.

I'm near Atlanta, GA

Suggest "all in one" active monitors like KEF LS50W v.2 or Buchardt A500.

Hello,

I'm interested in the Sony and the Elac kits.  I wound up with two pairs of the Sony's and one set of the Elac's.  Trying to decide which would be considered best.  I believe I did an introduction previously but got side-tracked.  Now I have the time but we may face shortages.

I will merge this current thread with your older thread from 2021.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

I'm not sure I'd be satisfied with the Kef class D powered speakers.  Atlanta has a great Kef dealership... but I've decided to add the GR modification kit to either the Sony's or the Elac's.  Either will probably be good enough.  I'll look for more blogs on this subject..

At this point, I'll keep the Audio Research pre-amp, although it's huge, and apply a small good quality power amp with it.

Thanks, again
