Stax SRD-7 adapter, Normal BiasSerial No 21278
7/10 condition, mainly due to age
This is not an amplifier; it connects to your receiver/amplifier to power normal bias Stax headphones (6 pin plug).
The unit has been thoroughly tested over the past 3 weeks with Stax SR Sigma headphones (NOT included): Attached to a Denon receiver playing FM white noise for 8 hours a day. Several times a week I'd play CD's for a couple hours, evaluating the sound and listening for problems.
I noticed a couple light marks on the top, you gotta be looking for them. Front plate and knob are A-OK. Both ports work – both are for Normal Bias Sigmas. This SRD-7 is factory spec – NO modifications.
The cable that attaches to the amplifier had some black tape wrapped where the 4 signal wires emerge. It was coming undone and served no purpose so I removed it. There remains some discoloration even after swabbing with isopropyl alcohol.
The neon pilot light flickers and once in a while goes out. I contacted Stax Tech Support in Japan. They said it does NOT impact sound performance. It can be replaced and they would be happy to send the part. Cost is $25 or $50 depending on the shipping option. I can share the contact info if you wish.
Happy to provide additional photos on request.
