Hello people, I'm Geoff, a retired IT professional.

My audio interest started back in the 90's but died away. It picked up again, in DIY form, back before the lock-downs started, late 2019, and has kept me busy through the lock-downs. (In Victoria, AU, we are now into about Week 30 of lock-downs.)

It started off with a pair of little DIY L-slot Dayton ND65's, through PVC piping and now Open Baffles. I must have about 2 dozen drivers around the place.

I'm, currently, primarily focused on finalizing drivers for a pair of plywood U-shaped Open Baffles inspired by GR Research's NX-Orticas.

I knocked the speakers together in about an hour, so, yeah, very much in the prototyping or R&D stage. So far I've gone through about 6 different pairs of drivers on them. It's a 3-way set-up, and, so, probably checked out about 2 different drivers per 'way'... Using REW and a Dayton iMM-6 mic, as well as quick tests with Audio Tool on Android and lots of listening.

I've also got an H-frame sub-woofer happening... With side tracks through ported boxes and back. Currently, the H-frame is moving onto it's second set of drivers (with higher Qts ratings).

Currently, I'm finalizing the prototyping (still not happy with my tweeters (just cut the back off my closed tweeters... I think I need some open backed Neo3's)) and shifting focus to the woodworking side... Something a bit more fancy than a few bits of plywood nailed together (I will probably go with an edge layered plywood construction so I can router in a slight organic profile). After that the plan is to fine tune the cross-overs.

In any case, an interesting and continuing lock-down adventure.
I've learnt a heap along the way and still a ways to go.

Sounds like a cool project, Geoff.  Post some pictures of your speakers when you get them finished.
